Overview

Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) is a centrally sponsored maternity benefit scheme launched in 2017 to provide partial compensation for wage loss to pregnant and lactating mothers.

Financial Assistance

The scheme offers cash incentives transferred directly to the beneficiary's Aadhaar‑seeded bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

• First living child: ₹5,000 in three instalments – ₹1,000 on early pregnancy registration, ₹2,000 after six months of pregnancy, and ₹2,000 after child birth and completion of the first cycle of immunisation (BCG, OPV, DPT, Hepatitis‑B).
• Second living child (if girl): ₹6,000 in three instalments – ₹1,000 on early pregnancy registration, ₹2,000 after six months of pregnancy, and ₹3,000 after child birth and immunisation.

Eligibility

Beneficiaries must be pregnant women or lactating mothers aged 19 years or above, not employed with the Central/State Government or any Public Sector Undertaking, and not receiving similar maternity benefits under any other law.

1. Obtain the application form (Form 1A, 1B, 1C) either online from the PMMVY portal or offline from the nearest Anganwadi Centre, ASHA worker, or ANM.
2. Fill in the form and attach required documents: Mother and Child Protection Card, Aadhaar‑seeded bank passbook/cancelled cheque, identity proof, and pregnancy/lactation proof.
3. Submit the completed form to the Anganwadi worker/ASHA/ANM or upload it on the PMMVY portal.
4. After verification by the concerned authorities, the instalments are released directly to the beneficiary's bank account via DBT.
