Scheme Overview

The Government of Bihar, in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers' Welfare, implements a credit assistance programme that augments the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) facility with a 3 % state‑sponsored interest subsidy on crop loans. The scheme also extends a matching subsidy of up to 50 % on capital outlay for dairy unit set‑up under the Sudha dairy network, and offers concessional financing for fisheries and related equipment.

Operational Mechanism

State‑level funds are transferred to participating cooperative societies and Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS). Eligible beneficiaries receive the subsidy directly as a reduction in the effective interest rate on the disbursed loan. For dairy projects, the subsidy is credited against the principal amount, reducing the borrower’s repayment burden.

Funding Sources

Subsidies are financed from the Bihar State Agriculture Development Fund and are synchronized with central animal husbandry credit lines to avoid duplication.

1. Obtain the application form from the nearest PACS or district animal husbandry office.
2. Submit required documents (identity proof, land ownership/ tenancy proof, KCC copy, dairy cooperative membership certificate).
3. The cooperative society forwards the application to the District Agriculture Office for verification.
4. Upon approval, the subsidy amount is credited to the loan account at the time of disbursement.
